The aim of the study was to explore and analyse the possibility of creating a new, scalable service for SMEs to help them assess and understand the sustainability and climate impact of their business, especially from the perspective of financiers. SMEs are an important source of economic growth, innovation and employment, and addressing the global sustainability challenge requires “greening” the EU and global SME sector. The study provided a comprehensive overview of the EU’s SME sector, and examined and analysed the relevance of EU and international climate legislation and recommendations, as well as sustainability reporting for businesses. Based on the findings of the study, the development of the Saas service was launched in 2021.
